Just as every Muslim should be able to read the words of the Qur’an, it is also important for some people to memorize the Qur’an. Allah, glory unto Him, has stated the special virtue for memorizing the Holy Qur’an. On the Day of Judgment, not only will a special reward be given to the Memorizer / Haafiz of the Qur’an, but also his parents will be dressed in the most beautiful clothes. They will also be crowned in the same way.

Allah Almighty has chosen Himself for the protection of the Holy Qur’an. In order to protect the Holy Qur’an, Allah, glory unto Him, has issued a system of memorization in the world. Through it, the holy book is not only safe on paper and in books, but also completely safe in the hearts of countless Muslims. Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):

انَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَ ِّانَّا لَهٗ لَحَفِظُونَ

We, Ourselves, have sent down (the Qur’an), and We are there to protect it.

Al-Hijr – Sura: 15, Verse: 9

On the contrary, if we look at the origin of the Qur’an, it was present in the hearts of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and was not written in book form at that time. A incident took place in the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr when more than 350 Companions were martyred on the occasion of a battle called “Battle of Ymama. Due to the fear of being lost it, it was also preserved in regular book form.

That is why Allah has made the Qur’an easy to memorize and to take advice. Anyone can memorize this book of Allah, the Lord of Glory, very easily in a very short period of time as compared to other books. And then if we regularly arrange its recitation for some time, we will never forget this Qur’an for the rest of our life. Allah Himself says in the Qur’aan:

وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا ٱلْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِن مُّدَّكِرٍۢ

Indeed, We have made the Qur’an easy for seeking advice. So, is there anyone who heeds to this advice?

Al-Qamar – Sura: 54, Verse: 32

Therefore, in the course of memorize Quran online, the students are taught to learn orally the Holy Qur’an so that they may cherish the light of this book of Allah, the Lord of Glory, in their hearts and sow the seeds of blessings and goodness for themselves in this world and hereafter.

 2 Levels of Quran memorization

There are two levels of memorizing the Qur’an.

1.The first level is to make the student learn Holy Qur’an oral, so that he can read it easily in prayer. It includes the last forty Surahs, Surah Yaseen, Surah Tabarak Al-Dhi, and Surah Al-Waqi’ah.

It is important for every Muslim to memorize these basic Surahs of the Qur’an and the supplications. Therefore, every Muslim should memorize the last ten surahs and the supplications recited in the prayers. That is why we make all the new students learn the basic surahs and the duaa’s. By taking time out of the lesson, these basic things are taught.

2. The second level is that the student should memorize the whole Qur’an, from Surah Al-Fatihah to Surah Nas, complete 30 verses and 114 Surahs. Which the student should keep in his chest.

This second type of memorization is the original memorization of the Qur’an which has been revealed by Allah, the Exalted, with special virtues. Because it involves memorizing the whole book, which also requires the hard work of the student. For this reason, a separate complete course is prepared for Hifz, in our best Quran Hifz school, in which special arrangements are made for giving new lessons as well as repetition of old lessons.

We divide our class in 3 sections:

Virtues of memorizing the Qur’an

Many virtues of memorizing the Qur’an have been mentioned in Hadiths:

يقال لصاحب القرآن: اقرأ وارتق، ورتل كما كنت ترتل في الدنيا، فإن منزلك عند آخر آية تقرؤها

t will be said to the one devoted to the Qur’an: Read, ascend, and recite with deliberation as you used to recite in the world. Your rank will be at the last verse you recite.

Hasan/Sound. – [Abu Dawood]

The importance of memorizing the Qur’an can be gauged from the fact that in the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) whoever became a Muslim was first taught the Qur’an and memorized the Holy Qur’an. In fact, in the early days, every Muslim memorized a significant portion of the Qur’an orally.

As the Qur’an was revealed, so did the Companions memorize it. The regular order in which the Qur’an exists in our time in the form of a Mushaf was not then. At that time the Qur’an was written on paper, stones and bones in various places. Most people relied on memory and most of the Companions kept the Qur’an in their hearts. But when 700 guards were martyred in the battle of Yamama, in the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA), Hazrat Umar (RA) expressed his concern about it. So Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) compiled the Qur’an in the form of a Mushaf.

Ruling on memorizing the Qur’an, it is important for every Muslim to memorize the Qur’an as much as he can in recite in the prayers. And it is obligatory to have a memorizer of the Qur’an in every Muslim area. If there is not a single memorizer of the Qur’an in an area, then everyone in that area will be a sinner.

Here’s one way to approach memorizing the text of the Qur’an. Start by picking a line of scripture that you’d like to memorize. Read the whole passage aloud. Then read the whole thing again. After that, repeat those steps until you’ve read the entire passage three times. And the next time you go over that passage, stop after each paragraph and say the words out loud. That way, when you go back to read the passage again, it will start to stick. And the more you repeat the lines, the easier they will become to remember.

A good trick to read Quran while concentrating is to keep reading the same word. If you read “Allah,” “Thee,” or “Amin,” you will be forced to focus. Then, when you’re finished, read it again to remind yourself what you just read. Another trick is to use a pencil to write down the letters of each word. Then, you will be able to see all the letters that you have written. This way, you will focus better while you’re reading and you will be able to remember what you just read.

I have been led to understand that reading the Quran daily is one of the greatest acts of worship that I can perform, and I intend to keep my promise to Allah. Also, the Quran is a source of strength, guidance, and comfort for me, and I want to continue reading it. If I don’t continue reading the Quran, I fear that I may lose touch with the religion that I have been practicing for so long.
